Understanding Saudi Building Code Requirements for Scaffolding

The Saudi Building Code (SBC) sets strict requirements for temporary structures used on construction sites, and scaffolding is no exception. Every scaffold system — whether cuplock, H-frame, or aluminum tower — must be designed to withstand the loads it will carry, including dead loads, live loads, wind loads, and dynamic loads from workers and materials in motion.

Compliance starts at the design stage. Our engineering team calculates load paths, bracing requirements, and anchorage points before a single tube reaches site, ensuring every structure is signed off by a qualified engineer.

On site, compliance continues through regular inspection: base plates and sole boards checked for even bearing, ties and bracing verified at every lift, and load limits clearly signed at each platform level. Combined with trained erection crews and documented handover procedures, this keeps every project both compliant and safe.
